SPELUNKING!!!!

On Monday, our homeschool group went on a Field Trip to Appalachian Caverns.
This is a very large cave with many different tours available...ranging from the walking tour....to the "Wild Tour"...which is over 3 hours in length and requires crawling through areas as small as 10 inches.
(We did NOT take the Wild Tour!!!) :)
This cave boasts ceilings up to 135 feet in height!
The stalactites and stalagmites were stunning...some even forming massive columns!
At one point, the children noticed a bat flying in the distance!
We crossed several bridges within the cave. A stream flowed beneath one of the larger bridges. Our cave guide brought along some breads to feed the fish that live there.
The caverns were so beautiful.....the kids seemed to really enjoy the field trip!
Afterwards we had a picnic lunch at their picnic shelter.
Here are some pictures of our day!

Our guide suggested that if you could make it through this loop, then you could make it through the easiest protion of the wild tour!

This is a "Cave Pearl".... formed by water dripping in the same spot for a very long period of time...creating this beautiful "Cave Pearl"!

Wow! You all take some really neat field trips! The pictures are great! And, I love the ones of the "Carter" house, too! Maybe because I have a "Landon Carter". We're going to have to make a trip someday and check that out!
I love the new blog look, by the way!
Have a blessed day!

Monica

What a great field trip, never been to a cave like that...don't think I'd be doing the 'wild tour' either. Yikes!

LOVE your new blog look, this may be my favorite that you've done so far. You are one talented girl...

Denise,

Spelunking looks like fun! I love the picture of Chelsi on her belly crawling through that tight space...girl power!!

Thank you for the kind comment on my blog! I use the editing tools on Flickr to create the effects on the pictures. (once in eidting mode, click on create, black ad white and then use the brush to add color where you want it!) It is very simple...those are the first I tried my hand at and I can see it could become addicting!!!

I would be gald to send you more detailed help if you need it...let me know!

Have a wonderful 4th of July!!!

Hi Denise,

What cool pictures...I hate closed in spaces...I would not have made it without having an anxiety attack!

Love the new look of you blog!

I was going to tell you how I did the pictures, but I just read Kate's comments explaining how we did it.....if you have questions, send me an email!

Have a Happy 4th!

Hi Denise!

I love when you post about your HS trips! The pictures are great and I get to "visit" places I have never been.

The kids were quite brave crawling through those small spaces...especially with their new sneakers!! : 0

Have a great week-end, my friend!!

Okay - love the pictures and the trip is awesome, however, crawling on my belly in tight places, oooooohhhh noooo! Go Chelsi, you are braver than I would be girlie.

I have so missed checking in on you dear friends - so glad to be back:)

ANd um, the shoes, if I were a more petty woman, I may have cried over mud on new shoes;0

Have a blessed day!

Love,
Heather
